Accelerate CI/CD Pipelines by Implementing ionir as the Kubernetes Data Services Layer for CircleCI

We are thrilled to announce that ionir has been certified as a CircleCI Orb integration. CircleCI is a powerful Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) platform. Running CircleCI in containers dramatically reduces the overhead associated with starting and running instances, making it easy to scale for build, test, and deployment.

The newly formed Orb allows CircleCI users to utilize ionir Kubernetes Native Storage functionality including:

  • PVC cloning
  • Cloning back in time with 1-second granularity
  • Teleporting between clusters in 40 seconds or less

As the only Kubernetes-Native data services solution in CircleCi’s repository, we’re excited to be part of validating CI/CD as a key player in the DevOps industry.

Who Would Benefit the Most from the ionir and CircleCI Integration?

All organizations and startups — especially those in SaaS — that are currently leveraging or thinking about moving to Kubernetes containers and container-native applications will benefit from the ionir and CircleCI integration. Since CircleCI is not open-source, users are enabled to use the platform with their own server engines which enhances security.

ionir connects to CircleCI in a unique way that allows developers to:

  • Effectively manage and automate the entire deployment pipeline
  • Amplify continuous integration
  • Quickly move applications down the pipeline

Upon integrating ionir and CircleCI, customers will be able to build a pipeline in CircleCI to then leverage and implement ionir’s cutting-edge capabilities to scale, clone data volumes, and run code securely. From here, users can clone a dataset as it existed at any previous point in time with 1-second granularity. Plus, developers will be able to access and relocate data across any distance in 40 seconds or less.

What are the CI/CD Efficiencies ionir Brings to CircleCI?

ionir’s storage data management platform is an ideal solution to deploy containerized CircleCI. Data agility, including the ability to move any size volume to any location in seconds, and the ability to instantly restore 1-second RPOs significantly accelerates workflows that require data to be preserved and copied.

Accelerates Application Delivery: ionir enables rapid scaling, optimizes workflows, and reduces errors, speeding the app delivery process.

Eliminates Multiple Hardware Silos: ionir shares COTS servers with CircleCI and other Kubernetes apps. In typical configurations, only additional media capacity is required, resulting in significant CAPEX savings over external storage.

Reduces Administration: ionir is orchestrated and runs under Kubernetes, and is managed by the same tools that manage applications and CircleCI. This eliminates the need for separate storage and data management, significantly reducing operational complexity and administrative costs.

Final Thoughts

Implementing ionir as the Kubernetes data services layer for CircleCI enables developers to:
